Pat’s Games has won their legal battle against the individual accused of stealing $65,000 worth of Magic: the Gathering cards from the business.
According to security footage, the culprits broke into the shop during the night of January 4, 2016 and stole three display cases of Magic cards, with a total value over $65,000. The perpetrators became known to investigators after they tried to sell some of the stolen goods to Card Kingdom.
The Card Kingdom buyer noted that the transactions were suspicious at the time and reported them to the police. One attempted transaction in particular stood out from the rest, the now infamous Alpha Ancestral Recall.
In one transaction, of the 112 cards sold to Card Kingdom, 102 were found to have been reported stolen.
A Victory For Pat’s Games
Yan Carlos Dominguez-Ugarte has been charged with theft in the case, and Pat’s Games has recovered around $40,000 worth of cards.
It may have taken a long time for justice to be served in this case, but it’s good to see that Pat Johnson succeeded in recovering her stolen merchandise. This is a major win for Pat’s Games and the Magic community as a whole.
If you want to own a piece of Pat’s Games history, Pat is offering to sell the recovered cards for a nice discount. Signed on request of course. You can reach out to Pat on Facebook or on Pat’s Games website.
